Welcome to Pod4Design! 

I get asked about why and how I decided to start my own business frequently.  Having kids and being financially responsible for them is a daunting task.  I knew early on I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom and spend as much time as I could with my kids.    I have a Business Degree and was in professional sales when I graduated from University and could have continued on that professional path working for a big corporation, but I realized that wouldn't allow for me to spend as much time with my children as I hoped for.  I took a leap of faith and invested in starting a career for myself in 2014 by founding Pod4Design.

It wasn't until I had my first child that I even knew what a wheat bag was.  I was gifted one by a chiropractic friend, and basically threw it (unwrapped) in the linen closet and didn't give it another thought for about a year.  Then one day my son was unsettled in bed and I pulled it out of the box, heated it and laid it beside him in his crib. Presto!  In no time he was quiet and fast asleep.  I loved it!  Finally... a minute to myself! 

The product became a necessity.  The only issue I had was that it had a polyester cover that needed to be removed to heat.  There was nothing more frustrating than trying to squeeze an extremely hot bag into a tight cover.  I knew I could improve on that. So, with the skills my mother taught me (she was a master seamstress from Europe - my skills pale in comparison!), I bought some high-quality cotton in a fun pattern and made my first wheat bag. Now, seven years later I have created 10 products of all shapes and sizes.                                         

It's very important to me to acknowledge my friends with Cognitive Disabilities and staff at Epic Smile of St. Malo, who I employ to fill and sew our liners.  Together, we are especially proud of our Back and Shoulder and Flat Pad channeled bags that keep the wheat exactly where it's meant to be.
